Desert Water Drop

With the help of volunteers like yourself, Border Angels leaves dozens of gallon jugs of water in the desert along high-traffic migrant paths. Why? Since 1994, more than 10,000 sons and daughter, sisters and brothers, husbands and wives have died from dehydration in their attempt to across our increasingly militarized border. Our water helps reduce the 475 plus deaths every year. If you’d like to accompany us on our mission, we ask you bring two gallons of water and your photo ID (passports are not necessary), or papers if DACA, and recommend a big breakfast, sun screen, an extra layer of clothing, and your own water to stay hydrated. We typically meet at the Sherman Heights Community Center by 10:00am every third Saturday (please check our volunteer calendar for precise information). We then head out to the Jacumba Hot Springs Shell gas station for bathroom use, food, coffee, and a view of the border wall. Finally, we drive to the chosen water drop location in the Jacumba Wilderness. Expect a round trip hike of two to three miles in warm weather. We return to the Community Center between 3 and 4 pm.
